Juventus close on Xabi

xabi-alonso Juventus close on XabiJuventus looked to have won the race for Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso after the Turin club confirmed Alonso is keen on a move to Italy. The only blockage now is agreeing a fee with Liverpool. The merseyside club are pushing for £16m but Juventus have only offered £14.5m so far.

A source at the club said…

“His agent confirmed he wants to come. It’s great news. All that is left now is to reach an agreement with Liverpool.”

Liverpool are willing to sell so they can use the cash to prize Gareth Barry away from Aston Villa.

Queen of darts aims to become King

darts-female Queen of darts aims to become KingRussian female darts sensation Anastasia Dobromyslova has qualified for “the FA Cup of Darts” otherwise known as PDC UK Open. She has very high aspirations as she aims to become the first woman to win the World Championship.

Ana’s chances…

Ana may not be able to average as high as the men but at the tender age of 23, and with Phil Taylor mentoring her she has a very good chance.  She is already the number one in Womans darts and wants to rule the world of Darts.

She said…

 ”Whoever I play against is just a rival - it doesn’t matter whether male or female. But obviously to achieve my goals I have to beat all the men.  My dream is to compete in the Ladbrokes World Championship at the Alexandra Palace - and win.”

Ana faces Scot Robert Thornton, it will also be his debut at PDC UK Open. He has promised he won’t take Ana easy.  He said…

“It’s going to be a baptism of fire for me playing Ana. She’s a class act and it’s a match which everyone can’t wait to see.”

Whatever happens at the Uk Open, maybe just maybe Darts is coming into a new era of “Female” top players.

Federer hot on Nadals heels

roger-federer Federer hot on Nadals heelsRoger Federer kept up hus push for the Roland Garros title with a hard fought 4 set win. The Swiss overcame an early scare to defeat Fernando Gonzalez 2-6,6-2,6-3,6-4.  This win means Federer now comes up against home hopeful Gael Monfils. 

Gonzalez has an appauling record against Roger but early on he didn’t looked fazed by it, but as the match rolled on you could see he just could believe in himself enough to beat the World Number one.

How did Federer rate his performance…

“I needed to get off to a good start in the second set because I wasn’t playing that great and Fernando was playing well,  he plays particularly - dinks the backhand and rifles the forehand. He is quite unpredictable, a dangerous player who has the game to upset the big guys.”

 

Ancelotti to stick knife in Chelsea

Didier DrogbaAfter turning down Russian Billionaire Roman Abramovich Carlo Ancelotti has now demanded Ac Milan to sign Didier Drogba. Ancelotti said he and the Ac Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani had an agreement thet if Carlo stayed they would sign Chelsea hitman Didier Drogba.

Adriano Galliani then said….

“We spoke to Peter Kenyon and we have the very best of relations. We spoke about Drogba, we spoke about Shevchenko, we spoke about lots of players.”

Didier would not come on the cheap and with Chelsea not having a manager, Milan might have to wait a little while before getting his man.

Torres hits out at defenders and goalkeepers

Fernando TorresSpanish sensation Fernando Torres has hit out at the defenders in the Premier League. Torres who bagged over 30 goals this season believes Ricardo Carvalho is the best defender in the league but the rest of them are pretty average.

Fernando said..

“Terry is captain so gets a much higher profile. But he’s only secondary to Carvalho,Ricky is superb. He has every quality that is needed. But the truth is most of them lack defensive positioning as a result of their reliance on strength and aggression and leave so much space for you to take advantage of.” 

 

Woods and Mickelson paired at the US Open

Woods and mickelsonTiger Woods will be reunited with his old foe Phil Mickelson after they were paired with each other at the US Open. That’s not all as they will be joined by World number 3 Adam Scott in what is going to be a really awesome group.

Woods back in action..

Meanwhile Tiger Woods has played his first round since having surgery on his knee. The American played 17 holes at Torrey Pines with no spectators and no media. As he got to the 17th a crowd began to appear and he immediatly picked up his ball and went off the course. 

The US Open will be Woods first competitive tournament since The Masters  where he come second.

City back in for Ronaldhino

RonaldhinoMan City want Ronaldhino to be the first signing for Mark Hughes. The former World Player of the Year is leaving Barcelona and the Eastlands club is desperate to sign him.

“Ronaldinho - you know, he is a great player. Whatever the club in your heart, you would want to see this player in England, wouldn’t you? It is not a risk. Sponsors will contribute. It will not damage our wage structure. I am very excited

Obviously Mark Hughes will make the final decision but would he turn down Ronaldhino..?

“There’s a lot of talk about the quality of players that can come here. If they’re available at the right price I will be interested.”

Anyway things at Man City seem to be on the up after the sudden departure of Sven Goran Erikkson.
