Earlier in the week he apparently told Brazilian newspapers that he wants to go to Real Madrid.  Ronaldo has denied this after he said that he is still undecided about his future and wants to decide after Euro 2008.

Ronaldo said…

”Still I do not know where I will play, I have not yet decided. It will be decided after the European Championships.”

This news will make United fans a little happier, could their star asset stay after the all the speculation surrounding him over the past few months.

Czechs make good start!

June 8, 2008

sverkos Czechs make good start!Czech Republic kicked off Euro 2008 in good style with a hard fought victory over co-hosts Switzerland. The Czechs won 1-0 thanks to Vaclav Sverkos who coolly slotted home in the 70th minute.

First Half…

The first half was a tight affair and both teams had chances. Midway through the first half, Sebastian Frei stung Petr Cech’s hands with a long-range effort, the keeper could only parry but luckily enough for him the offside flag went up to save the Chelsea keeper. The changing point was when Sebastian Frei picked up an injury and was forced to leave the field, he never returned and the Swiss’s hopes were dashed.

Second Half…

It was a low-key second half without to many chances. That was until the goal when Vaclav Sverkos scored the only goal of the game with a nicely placed volley past the Swiss keeper. That goal opened up the game and the Swiss began to attack, attack and attack. They went close towards the end when Johan Vonlanthen rattled the crossbar in the final minutes.

So the Czechs made a good start but they will have to improve if they are to challenge for the cup.

Rafa wins French Open

June 8, 2008

rafa-nada Rafa wins French OpenThe King of clay Rafael Nadal destroyed World number one Roger Federer in the final of the French Open. The Spaniard won the match in straight sets 6-1,6-3,6-0 to claim his fourth consecutive title at Roland Garros.

Roger could not find his rhythm…

The Swiss made too many unforced errors and his volleying was poor on the day. Every time he came to the net, he seemed to either knock it long or hit the net. He became very frustrated with himself because he knew that was not going to win the title for another year.

Rafa’s class…

The Spaniard proved why he is the best with some outstanding groundstrokes and winners. He always made Federer play that one extra shot and it proved because by the final set he was tired and began to lose his concentration.

The win puts the Spaniard in the same class of Bjorn Borg who also won four consecutive titles.
