Adebayor makes huge u-turn
June 28, 2008
Adebayor has made the biggest u-turn in football history. Just yesterday, he said he was going to stay at Arsenal but today he has been speaking about what would happen to Arsenal if he left the club.
Emmanuel said…
”If they’re going to get 50 million for me and they bought me for 10 million, everyone is getting the benefits. I have asked Arsenal to look at it and see what they want. I have a promise from the manager Arsene Wenger that they will call me next week. I am waiting for their answer and next week I will decide. I need to know before I come back to train on July 21. At the moment, I am in a position that I don’t know where I will play.”
This news will hurt Arsenal fans after just yesterday he said he would stay. He has lost all respect of Arsenal fans after what he has done to the club.
Simon Says…
I can’t believe what he has done to Arsenal and most importantly Arsene Wenger. He was made the one of the best by Arsene and now he has stabbed him in the back. He will never get any respect from Arsenal fans and rightly so in my eyes.
Adebayor: im staying
June 27, 2008
Emmanuel Adebayor has quashed reports that he is going to leave Arsenal. The Gunners hitman has been targeted by both Barcelona and Ac Milan.
Adebayor said…
”I am an Arsenal player and have three years left on my contract. The most important thing for me is to keep on enjoying my football. I’m staying at Arsenal.”
Milan had earlier stated that they are only going to go for two players who are Ronadlhino and Adebayor.
Milan President said…
“There is a ‘yes’ from coach Carlo Ancelotti to go for the Brazilian. It’s Ronaldinho or Adebayor. Buying one excludes taking the other.”
Ronaldo calls United
June 26, 2008
Ronaldo, 23, has given United fans the news they most wanted by informing the club he would be going straight on holiday and would return, as instructed, for pre-season training.
His call makes it clear Ronaldo does not envisage any move to Real Madrid in the coming weeks.
The player was told he must be back at United three weeks from the day Portugal’s interest in Euro 2008 ended - July 10 - and he has said he will be there.
Ronaldo initially claimed he would return to Manchester this week for an exploratory ankle op.
But he has delayed that to go on an immediate break.
He is clearly having to accept that Alex Ferguson remains as determined as ever to keep him.
Boss Ferguson returns to work on Monday, after his holiday in the South of France.
He believes he can talk the player round, as he did after the 2006 World Cup when the wing wizard first stated his interest in joining
Henry opens door to America
June 26, 2008
Thierry Henry has opened up the doors to join David Beckham in America. Henry who has struggled with form in Spain said he was happy for now but in the future it’s a big possibility.
Henry said…
“I love America. I love it here. And whenever I come here, I feel free. Hopefully, one day. You never know what’s going to happen. But at the moment, I’m still over there. I’m here on vacation, enjoying the town. It’s an amazing town. I love New York. It’s not the first time I say it. I come here quite often. It’s pretty nice. Sometimes I do get recognised, but I feel free when I’m here, so that’s the most important thing. I love it.”
Thierry would be a great addition to MLS and he would help Beckham in trying to raise the game in America.
Liverpool reject Crouch bid
June 25, 2008
Liverpool have rejected Pompey’s £9m bid for their striker Peter Crouch. Peter has fell out of favour with Rafa Benitez and concedes that he needs to find first team football. The ex Southampton man is willing to sign for Pompey but according to Harry Redknapp Portsmouth may be priced out of a deal.
Harry said…
“I’d love to bring Crouchie back here, But the fee seems a bit too high, and at the end of the day it comes down to the price. It seems like things are getting a bit too expensive. Crouchie is a player who is on our list, but if nothing can be done then we will just move on to the next player.”
Crouch will be hoping a deal pushes through so he can make an impression on England manager Fabio Capello next season.
Simon Says…
Why won’t Liverpool sell? Last season they hardly played him and when they did it was dead rubber games. They should let the lad move on. £9m is a good price and I cannot believe they have rejected it, they are wrecking Peter’s career.
Will Ronaldo move to Madrid?
June 23, 2008
Somehow, someway the transfer saga surrounding Ronaldo is still going on. It started so long ago, according to Ronaldo he made had made his decision before the champion’s league final. He decided not to tell us and now it has been going on for some months.
Ronald said…
“The possibilities of me going to Madrid are great but it does not depend on me. I know there is a concrete offer on the table, now let’s see if we can reach a deal in the next days. ” He continued…
“For me it’s a very good opportunity. As Scolari says, this only happens once. I didn’t want to say anything because we were in competition and these are important decisions.”
Real Madrid president has also been stirring the situation by saying…
“If the kid keeps himself in that strong position, the step he has taken could be key. As we have already said many times, it is a problem between Manchester United and the player. If the two resolve the situation and Manchester United want to call us, then we will be happy and delighted with that because Cristiano is a great player.”
Simon says…
I really don’t know how this is still going. I am a United fan and I don’t care whether he stays or goes now. He has disrespected Fergie, the club and the fans. He has gone down in my estimation and I believe we will cash in. The prospect of Wesley Sneidjer joining and £40m in the bank sounds mouthwatering. I hope we do the deal and get rid of “the god”.
Turkey beat Croatia
June 21, 2008
Croatia had been backed to cause an upset at Euro 2008 and make a real push to win the tournament. It’s all gone down in tears after they suffered a humiliating defeat to the hands of Turkey. The game itself was very poor, there was not many chances and it was destined for penalties.
Extra time and Penalties…
Turkey are like the comeback kids, they came back against Czech Republic but this was just incredible. Ivan Klasnic headed home from a Luka Modric cross to give Croatia the lead with just one minute to go. One final long ball into the box from Turkey and the unlikely happened. Super Sub Semih Senturk latched onto the ball and his deflected volley went into the top corner. The Turks were level and the game was going to penalties. Star man Luka Modric missed along with, Mladen Petric who missed the vital kick which gave Turkey an unlikely win. All the Turks scored and the crowd went into raptures after the match. Turkey would face Germany in the semi’s and a possible final is on the cards.
McClaren gets FC Twente job
June 20, 2008
Steve McClaren is back in work after agreeing to be manager of Dutch team Fc Twente. He has also been in the running for the Blackburn job but has now decided on the Dutch team.
McClaren said…
“I have this morning accepted a two-year contract to become the new manager of FC Twente in Holland. This is an exciting new phase of my managerial career and I can’t wait to take up the challenge. Last season was very exciting for the club having qualified for the third round qualifiers for this season’s Champions League. It’s great to be back in management and I’m relishing the opportunity and challenge that lies ahead.”
Simon Says…
After the disaster which happened with England im sure that he is over it and has moved on. He will be well away from the press and maybe that is the reason he has moved to Holland. I don’t think he will work miracles but it should be a nice job for him without too much expectation.
Ronaldo wants to go to Real Madrid
June 20, 2008
Cristiano Ronaldo looks to have made a huge decision regarding his future at Man Utd. Cristiano who has been constantly linked Spanish giants Real Madrid told reporters that he intends to speak to United and hopes his “dream” will come true.
He said…
“It is a dream, a step forward, you can call it what you want. For me it is a great opportunity, and as Scolari says, that train passes by only once, and we have to take advantage of it. You will soon know what I want. You do know what I want and that is why I don’t want to say anything else. Let’s wait. I want to give more details that is why I cannot say much more.”
United quickly replied to the news…
“Further to Friday’s press speculation about where Cristiano Ronaldo’s future lies, the club has moved to reiterate its stance on the matter: United are not listening to offers. But the club reaffirmed to ManUtd.com on Friday morning that the 23-year-old United star is “not for sale”
Simon Says…
I think the boy is a great player and I really hope he stays at Man Utd. However with £70m and the likes of Robinho and Sergio Ramos in the frame then I hope Utd listen to offers. Its clear he doesn’t want to play at United so cash in and get a couple of players in the process.
Jose Mourinho to take back some Chelsea players?
June 19, 2008
Jose Mourinho is going to war with Chelsea. He wants to sign Lampard and Drogba and is ready to swoop for former playmaker Deco as well. Jose is going to spend big and has already agreed to sign Roma midfielder Mancini for £15m.
Mourinho said…
“I’m not a nostalgic person. However, I recognise the players who have helped me win and I would never say no to signing Deco, Lampard or Drogba. I’d like to work with them again but it’s not an obsession.”
This news comes at the wrong time for Chelsea after they have been rejected by three of their transfer targets. Kaka, David Villa and Torres have rejected the chance to join the Scolari revolution. Big Phil is running out of star players to buy and he has no hope of luring Ronaldo from United. He is telling Ronaldo to go but surely, he would not go to Chelsea. It should be interesting to see who else Chelsea are going to go for.
Simon says…
I think it’s about time someone told Romans millions NO. Last year he proved you could not buy leagues and Champions Leagues and having not won the league for two years Roman is desperately trying to invest in star players. It doesn’t look like its going to work though and Chelsea could struggle again next year.
