The Fade Shot

June 4, 2008

Well if you’re not familiar with the Fade shot it’s where the ball starts left and moves right through the air.
So how do you play it..?

Firstly set your clubface square to the ball, remember to hold the club very tight in you’re bottom three fingers as this will mean you release the club slightly later thus creating the right-to-left trajectory.
Secondly aim your body and feet left to the target but still keep your clubface square to the ball. With everything aiming left this should automatically create an out-to-in swing, which is perfect for the Fade shot.

Follow thorugh..

Make sure you come across the ball on the downswing and the ball will go left and come back to your target. It is hard to perfect the spin on this shot but when it comes off it is great to watch and play.

This shot is good when you have a dog-leg hole, you now can swing the ball round the corner and leave yourself an easier shot to the hole.

How to putt…

June 4, 2008

putting How to putt...One of the hardest things to learn in golf is putting. Especially when you’re on sloping greens and facing a 60ft putt to achieve par. I can’t guarantee you will be knocking in 60ft putts but I can guarentee you will 2 putt rather than 4 putt on the more challenging greens.

The tips..

Firstly always try to keep the same length forwards and backwards. So if you pull back 3ft push through 3ft. If you do this then you will find that you feel the putt a lot more and constantly hit the putt the same length. Why does this help? Ok let’s say you’re standing over a 20ft putt. You pull back just a few inches, you now realise you must push through more to get the ball to the hole. Also if you pull back far you now realise you must slow down a lot and not push through as much.

More tips..

Try to keep your hands as free as possible as you do not want them to interfer with the swing. If not then your hands will push through to hard and you lose the feel of the putt. Another tip is not to hold on the club too tight, as the same thing may occur with pushing through too hard and not feeling the putt. Try to keep your head as still as possible, in other words do not peek. I always like to see if it’s on line with the hole. If you do this then you may lift and not hit the ball out the centre the putter. This is vital to putting, keeping your balance is key and it definatly helps in putting.

Try these tips when you are next on the green. It will help with your putting.

3-wood chip shot

June 4, 2008

The 3-wood chip shotAre you struggling with your short game?

Are you losing too many shots around the green?

Well maybe you should add a new shot to your game. You may have seen some pro’s pulling out a 3-wood when their on the fringe of the green. Crazy I know, or are they, if you ask me whatever the pro’s do I will try and do the same, if it works for them then it can work for you.

Playing the shot…

Very easy to do this shot, pull out you’re 3-wood and take a very small swing and a very small follow-through. Grip very low on the club almost on the shaft and make a pendelum like swing without any power what-so-ever.

Advantage’s of the shot..?

I am always worried about making a fool of myself round the green, going 30ft off the green or coming up short. This shot is so easy to feel and easy to get it close to the pin. I really feel this shot could improve your short game, which means lower scores and more points.

Taylor Made r7 Quad Driver

June 4, 2008

driver1 Taylor Made r7 Quad Driver

This golf club is great for players who are not the best off the tee. It gives you complete control of your swing and you might just add 20 yards on your drive. I find with this driver that you really feel the head hitting the ball and on fade and draw shots its very comfortable and relaxed.

The price…

This is very expensive at around $800!! I know not the cheapest but i think it is worth every penny, you won’t need another driver for the rest of your life. I don’t think absolute beginners should invest in this but if you can play decent golf then it is the perfect club for you.

You will be able to improve your game with this club and i have not read one bad review yet!

Kenny Perry breezes to the memorial title

June 3, 2008

Kenny Perry lifts Memorial trophyThe American won the memorial tournament in Ohio by a comfortable 2 shots. Kenny produced a near flawless final round of 69,only a bogey on the 17th disappointed him. He finished on -8 par and comfortable beat Englishman Justin Rose who was his nearest rival at -6 par.

How did Kenny rate his performance..?

It was probably one of the greatest rounds I can remember in a long time, playing in tough conditions, I shot three-under on the front nine, and it could have been six-under. I had it close on every hole. My iron shots were precise,I’ve had an unbelievable month. I’m hitting my driver terrific, my irons are on the money and I’ve got great touch with the putter.”

This win pushes Perry in to fifth place in the US Ryder Cup standings.

The last time he played was The masters which he come second place in. He didn’t play well and his “Grand Slam” attempt was ruined.
