Pool League

May 29, 2008

Yesterday i played our 3rd game of the season as we played bottom of the table Bull Flanagans. It was a very easy match and they come short of players so before the game had even started we were 2-0 up.

Singles….

I went on first and to my surprise i had a very easy game and as soon as i got the two shots it was curtains. 1-0 in record time. Next up was the captain Lloyd who made no mistake in putting his 2-0 up. We continued to dominate and we won the next two to go 4-0 up. Then disater struck as we lost the fifth game of the night. 5-1 up because they only had five players so we had won after singles.

Doubles..

The “Skipper” decided to leave out some players and give others a game. We contiued winning ways and went 6-1 up. We were now playing for rack difference and when we won the next one we was very pleased. We lost the last one but still ended winning 7-2. Very good performance if i do say so myself.

After the match we all had a drink and a laugh and continued to discuss the good and bad shots throughout the eveing.

Pool League

May 26, 2008

Just played the top of the league in pool, Bar Shenanigans, and amazingly we won the match 5-4!!!

What is the format of the league..?

Well its a best of 9 match and there are 6 singles and 3 doubles. There is an interval between the singles and double where food is served to both teams(my favourite part). You play each team home and away and whoever has the most points wins the match.

The pressure of playing in the league…

Well surprisingly even though its just a friendly league men and women take it all very serious with the one minute rule in play and your always being told to be quiet.
The team we played are top of the league and have been tipped to win it. I play for an average team this year with slender hopes of winning the league. We have now won 2 out of 2 and are looking good to win it.

How did the match go..?

There was a lot of luck for both teams in the singles and we ended up 3-3 after the six legs. Then in doubles we lost the first and when their best player stood over a straight black we thought we had lost. He forgot about the roll on the table and left the black over the pocket. We knocked it in and went to the deceider where of course i was playing. It was the longest frame ive ever played and it lasted just under an hour. Their man Dave knocked in his last red and had a tricky black awaiting. He potted the black and my heart sunk, everyone cheered on their team apart from the man who had played the shot. He began pointing to the pocket and the white ball was heading for it, it dropped and we won. I didnt cheer because how unlucky their man was.

After the game we had a well earned drink and started debating all the bad and good shots we did throughout the night but at the end of the day, WE WON!!!!!
