Peter Crouch moves to Liverpool
July 11, 2008
Peter Crouch has finally completed his long awaited move from Liverpool to Portsmouth. The lanky striker fell out of favour with Rafael Benitez, but now has moved on to his old team Portsmouth.
Crouch said…
“This club is going places and they can match my ambitions. The chance of regular first-team football was part of the appeal. I know I’ll have to work hard to prove myself in training but I believe my best years are in front of me. It’s fantastic to be back. I believe Harry Redknapp gets the best out of me and think the best years of my career can be here.”
Harry Redknapp was overjoyed with the signing and spoke about Peter’s qualities…
“He’ll be a real threat here, a real handful. He has great ability and is a tall lad so you can drop balls off him and he’s great at bringing people into play. There’s no reason why he can’t get a lot of goals here this year.”
Portsmouth fans will be happy with the new signing but no doubt hoping for more talent to come in as they push for a Champions League.
Liverpool reject Crouch bid
June 25, 2008
Liverpool have rejected Pompey’s £9m bid for their striker Peter Crouch. Peter has fell out of favour with Rafa Benitez and concedes that he needs to find first team football. The ex Southampton man is willing to sign for Pompey but according to Harry Redknapp Portsmouth may be priced out of a deal.
Harry said…
“I’d love to bring Crouchie back here, But the fee seems a bit too high, and at the end of the day it comes down to the price. It seems like things are getting a bit too expensive. Crouchie is a player who is on our list, but if nothing can be done then we will just move on to the next player.”
Crouch will be hoping a deal pushes through so he can make an impression on England manager Fabio Capello next season.
Simon Says…
Why won’t Liverpool sell? Last season they hardly played him and when they did it was dead rubber games. They should let the lad move on. £9m is a good price and I cannot believe they have rejected it, they are wrecking Peter’s career.
Chelsea warned off Torres
June 14, 2008
Liverpool have quashed speculation that Fernando Torres could be on his way out to Chelsea. The Reds striker has been linked with Stamford Bridge but Rick Parry has denied this by saying…
“Fernando Torres is just not for sale to anyone. It is as simple as that, really - he is not going anywhere.”
Chelsea may go over the top of Rafael Benitez and speak to the Americans who own the club. The owners who have been abused by Liverpool fans and told they are not wanted could cash in on their star asset.
Torres would cost around £50m if Liverpool do sell.
Barry wants out
June 10, 2008
News that Aston Villa fans were dreading, Gareth Barry wants out, or at least his agent says so. Liverpool have been pushing for weeks and now look to have finally persuaded their man.
Gareth’s agent said…
”Gareth has spoken to Martin since he returned from England’s game in Trinidad and told him how he feels. At this stage of his career Gareth wants to be playing Champions League football and believes this is his chance to do it.”
This news will crush Villa as they had hoped to keep their inspirational captain. Gareth Barry was believed to have phoned his manager, Martin O’Neil last night to try to force through a deal with Liverpool.
Aston Villa are not going to go down softly and except £15m for his services.
Juventus close on Xabi
June 5, 2008
Juventus looked to have won the race for Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso after the Turin club confirmed Alonso is keen on a move to Italy. The only blockage now is agreeing a fee with Liverpool. The merseyside club are pushing for £16m but Juventus have only offered £14.5m so far.
A source at the club said…
“His agent confirmed he wants to come. It’s great news. All that is left now is to reach an agreement with Liverpool.”
Liverpool are willing to sell so they can use the cash to prize Gareth Barry away from Aston Villa.
Torres hits out at defenders and goalkeepers
June 5, 2008
Spanish sensation Fernando Torres has hit out at the defenders in the Premier League. Torres who bagged over 30 goals this season believes Ricardo Carvalho is the best defender in the league but the rest of them are pretty average.
Fernando said..
“Terry is captain so gets a much higher profile. But he’s only secondary to Carvalho,Ricky is superb. He has every quality that is needed. But the truth is most of them lack defensive positioning as a result of their reliance on strength and aggression and leave so much space for you to take advantage of.”
Clubs line up to sign Welsh Whizkid Aaron Ramsey
June 4, 2008
Premiership clubs a lining up to sign Cardiff City’s star Aaron Ramsey. Man Utd,Liverpool amd Arsenal are among the many clubs who want to sign the 17-year old and he has been aloud to speak to all of the clubs interested in him.
Race hots up…
The race got intense last night after Man Utd claimed to have struck a deal with Cardiff over Ramsey. This news prompted other clubs like Tottenham and Everton to inquire about the Welshman.
Why do clubs want to sign Ramsey..
Well he has been seen as the best player since Ryan Giggs to come out of Wales and has already become the youngest ever player to appear in an FA Cup final. He is an established member of the U21 Wales team and is already pushing for a place in the senior team.
Who is leading the race..
Well Man Utd seem to have the edge as they have agreed to let Ramsey go back on loan at Cardiff for one more season. But other teams like Tottenham also have plus points such as Aaron’s friends Gareth Bale and Chris Gunter both part of the Tottenham team.
It will be a difficult decision for Ramsey but what ever team he choose’s he has a very bright future in front of him.
Gerrard tells Barry to join him at Liverpool
May 31, 2008
The Liverpool captain has been training with Barry and has been constantly asking him to join him at Liverpool and play in the Champions League.
Gerrard said..
“were good friends on and off the pitch and i would love him to sign for us”.
These comments from Gerrard will anger Villa manager Martin o’neil who is desperatly trying to keep Barry at Liverpool but the chance to play in Europe could see Gareth leave his beloved Villa and join Liverpool. This is a chance in a lifetime for Barry and im sure that he wont turn it down.
Will Barry go to Liverpool
May 27, 2008
In the last few weeks Gareth Barry has been linked with Liverpool FC. Liverpool are looking for a replacement for Harry Kewell, who is set to leave the club.
Does Gareth Want To Go..?
Nothing has been said by Gareth but im sure hes really excited by the news and i reckon that he will want to improve his career by a move to Liverpool.
What Does Aston Villa’s Manager Martin O’Neil Think..?
He is really angry about the approach for Gareth and has already rejected the offer by Liverpool. He also made it his number one priority to keep him at the club. Martin stated that Aston Villa are trying to build a team and they dont want be known as a selling club.
So Will He Go To Liverpool..?
I believe that even though he loves Aston Villa, this oppurtunity will be to good to turn down and i think we will be seeing him at Liverpool next year.
Torres set for Chelsea
May 26, 2008
Chelsea have made an audacious bid for Liverpool’s Fernando Torres. The spaniard had a fantastic first season scoring 33 goals in as many apperances.
Why are Chelsea buying players without a manager..?
Well they have decided to stick with Avram Grant’s transfer list for now. The israeli manager had four or five transfer targets with Fernando Torres topping the bill.
Would Liverpool be willing to sell..?
Liverpool have stated that every player has their price but im sure they would be very unwilling to sell their prize asset. If they do sell Torres the fans would be very unhappy to say the least and the board and the manager would get a lot of abuse of the fans.
How much would he cost..?
He would set Chelsea back £50m but Chelsea are really keen and for that amount of money im sure Liverpool are. I think if Liverpool do sell Torres then they can kiss goodbye to winning leagues and cups because last season he carried Liverpool in the latter of the season.
