Should Rangers and Celtic be let in the premier league..?
May 27, 2008
It’s been a topic that hasn’t been discussed much over the last few years but i think now is the time to invite Celtic and Rangers in to out league.
Could they prove worthy challengers to the “top four”..?
I don’t think they would be able to challenge Man Utd,Chelsea and the other two big teams but i certainly would think they could finish top 8. Rangers have proved it by getting to Uefa Cup final and Celtic have beaten United in the past and are becoming a constant inclusion in the last 16 of the Champions League.
What would happen to the SPL..?
This is why i think its being held back, if Rangers and Celtic left it would completely crush the scottish league and in truth it wouldn’t be worth running. If the top two came then i think all the others would and should come. The likes of Aberdeen and Motherwell would have to play in the Championship and all the rest lower still. Only Rangers and Celtic would be good enough to compete in the Premier league so its a big hurdle if they were to come.
Would Celtic and Rangers be up for it..?
Definitely, the money it would generate for them would be something they haven’t experienced before and they now could attract the best players in the world as the premier league is considered the best and most of the worldwide players want to play there.
I really hope the FA and SPL talk about this and consider the leagues becoming one and Scottish and English teams playing on a regular basis.
Zenit win uefa cup
May 27, 2008
After a great build to the match and everyone talking about Rangers doing the unthinkable, winning the quadruple, the only thing that caught the headlines was the fighting before and after the match.
How did Zenit win the match.?
Well if you ask me the match was over before Rangers got on the pitch after what the SPL have done to them. Anyway Rangers didn’t perform well at all and looked very tired and jaded. But Zenit were not at their flowing best either. Both teams looked nervous as well and scared to throw men forward. The decisive moment came when the game looked to be heading to extra time but some lovely football from the Russian side put Denisov through and a cool finish broke Rangers heart. Rangers huffed and puffed but the goal never came and then to rub salt in the wounds some more superb play put Faith Tekke behind the defence, he squared the ball and Zurianov finished off the game.
What happened after the game..?
The feud started before the game when on of the big screens went off with thousands of fans wanting to watch the game. The fans turned and began to launch missiles towards the riot police and then that was it a big brawl broke out and one Russian fan was stabbed and over 30 fans arrested.
I think it was a big shame that it kicked off with fans and police and it marred a great performance from Zenit to win the cup.
