Zenit win uefa cup

May 27, 2008

After a great build to the match and everyone talking about Rangers doing the unthinkable, winning the quadruple, the only thing that caught the headlines was the fighting before and after the match.

How did Zenit win the match.?

Well if you ask me the match was over before Rangers got on the pitch after what the SPL have done to them. Anyway Rangers didn’t perform well at all and looked very tired and jaded. But Zenit were not at their flowing best either. Both teams looked nervous as well and scared to throw men forward. The decisive moment came when the game looked to be heading to extra time but some lovely football from the Russian side put Denisov through and a cool finish broke Rangers heart. Rangers huffed and puffed but the goal never came and then to rub salt in the wounds some more superb play put Faith Tekke behind the defence, he squared the ball and Zurianov finished off the game.

What happened after the game..?

The feud started before the game when on of the big screens went off with thousands of fans wanting to watch the game. The fans turned and began to launch missiles towards the riot police and then that was it a big brawl broke out and one Russian fan was stabbed and over 30 fans arrested.

I think it was a big shame that it kicked off with fans and police and it marred a great performance from Zenit to win the cup.

Ac Milan in Uefa Cup

May 26, 2008

Ac milan’s hopes of luring big name players have been dealt with a huge blow, they failed to finish fourth in the serie A and have to play in the Uefa Cup.

What happened on the last day..?

Milan put in a stunning display to beat Udinese 4-1 but relied on Torino beating Fiorentina to get the fourth place. Fiorentina left it late but a stunning bicycle kick from Pablo Osvaldo gave them the lead in 75th minute. They held on and made Champions League giants Ac play in the lower tier of European football.

What effect will this have on Milan…?

Well Ancelotti Ac’s manager has denied claims he is off and is looking to re-build and make a push for the serie A next season. Milan will be unwilling to let players leave but it could hinder the likes of Ronaldhino and Etoo going to the club. Their own stars like Kaka would be reluctant to leave but i bet Real Madrid would test him by offering him a staggering contract and Champions League football next year.

Ac Milan gave got some serious building to do as they looked terribly off the pace throughout the season, maybe their “golden oldies” have come to the end of their great careers.
